PARENT PARTNERSHIPS

The Pre-School actively encourages parental involvement in the education and development of their children.  At the Pre-School we recognise the parent/carer as the primary educator of a child and pride ourselves on working closely in partnership.  Respect is shown to family traditions and childcare practices; every effort is made to comply with parent wishes for their children where appropriate to the ethos of the Pre-School.

The Pre-School believes that when parents and staff work together it creates a powerful partnership. This partnership is an essential part of supporting children's well being, involvement and learning and we recognise that parents know their children better than anyone else.

The Pre-School’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) is Charlotte Dudley, and in her absence, Laura Rimmer. The Pre-School aims to be inclusive in its approach and recognises that the best way to achieve this is by working closely with parents and carers, and where necessary, with other professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists.

Home visits are offered to all parents and carers in advance of your child joining us.  Parents are asked to complete a questionnaire once their child is settled in to a Pre-School routine; we are constantly self-assessing our performance and all feedback is of value, be it positive or negative.

Throughout the year there are stay and play sessions which you will be invited to. This gives you the opportunity to join in with your child's learning at school.

learning journeys

Early years practitioners complete a "Learning Journey" for each child in their care; they are a unique record of a child’s learning and development over time.

A child’s personal “Learning Journey” will be as individual as they are and this can only be achieved with parental involvement. Learning Journeys provide a record of significant moments in a child’s learning and development across all areas of learning, and provide a focus for sharing and discussing observations and stages of development with parents and with others who share the child’s EYFS provision.

Parents can access their child’s Learning Journey anytime upon request and they will be sent home periodically enabling parents' to follow their child’s individual progress closely. Parents' can add comments so that we can find out about which activities children are currently enjoying and the learning they get up to at home.

Learning Journeys support children’s transitions as they move from one setting to another, and as they progress to higher education.
